About me
Mr. Ramirez has been a school counselor for eight years. This is his fifth year as the school counselor at Harmony Elementary. Mr. Ramirez attended school in Hemet Unified School District and is a graduate of West Valley High School. Mr. Ramirez started his college journey at Mt. San Jacinto Community College where he earned Associate Degrees in Arts, Humanities, Behavioral Science, and Mathematics. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Washington State University. After working as a youth outreach counselor for three years, he earned his Master’s Degree in School Counseling and started working for Hemet Unified School District.
Services
Harmony Elementary offers a wide variety of counseling services that are available for your child. Small support groups as well as individual counseling sessions are available for students at Harmony Elementary School.
Our goal is to serve students and their parents with interventions focused on social skill development, conflict resolution, and other counseling related services to promote academic and social emotional success.
The Elementary Counselor’s Role in helping support a Safe and Positive School Climate include but are not limited to:
• PATTS (Peaceful Alternatives to Tough Situations) Groups
• Girl Empowerment groups
• Grief Counseling
• Life Skills/Social Skills
• Peace Patrol Program
• Conflict Mediation
• Individual Counseling
• Special groups as needed
PATTS - helps children learn nonviolent conflict resolution skills, demonstrate more forgiveness in conflict situations and take responsibility for their choices and behavior.
Students will learn:

• Responsibility & Self Control
• Soothing & Stinking Thinking
• Positive Ways to Handle Conflicts

• Peer Refusal Skills
Life Skills/Social Skills– helps increase self-esteem, develop healthy attitudes, and improve their knowledge of essential life skills – all of which promote healthy and positive personal development.
Personal Self-Management Skills: Students develop skills that enhance self-esteem, develop problem-solving skills, help them reduce stress and anxiety, and manage anger.
General Social Skills: Students gain skills to meet personal challenges such as overcoming shyness, communicating clearly, building relationships, and avoiding violence.
